Addressing a rally against nuclear weapons outside the Faslane Naval Base on the Gare Loch today (Saturday 16 April) cardinal Keith O'Brien will describe Britain's nuclear weapons programme as "shameful" and urge the British Governement, "do the right thing and give it up". Quoting the words of Pope Benedict XVI, he will say; "In a nuclear war there would be no victors, only victims."

At their meeting in Edinburgh on Monday 11 April 2011, the Bishops of Scotland agreed to begin the introduction of the new English translation of the Roman Missal from Sunday 4 September. The full Missal will be in use throughout Scotland from the first Sunday of Advent (27 November).
